Course finder quiz

Last updated Nov 3, 2026

Quick answer

A course finder quiz asks about a learner’s goals, schedule, budget and preferences and recommends the course or program that fits them best. Unlike a placement test, it does not measure what someone knows; it matches what they want to what you offer.

How a course finder quiz works

It is usually built as an outcome quiz: each course or program is a result, and each answer votes for the courses it fits. Each result links straight to that course’s page, schedule or trial-lesson booking.

Examples

  • “Which study-abroad program suits you?” for an education agency.
  • “Find your coding bootcamp track” for a training provider.
  • “Which class fits your child?” for a tutoring center.
  • “Which online course should you take first?” for a course creator.

What to ask

  • The goal: a career change, an exam, travel, a hobby, or a child’s schoolwork.
  • The format they prefer: live or self-paced, group or one-to-one, online or in person.
  • How much time they have each week, and when they want to start.
  • Their budget, if your programs differ a lot in price.

Ask about level only if it changes the recommendation. If it does, route people to a placement test after the course finder instead of mixing the two.

How to build one in RooQuiz

  1. Start an outcome quiz and add one result type per course or program.
  2. For each answer, choose which courses it points to. An answer can vote for more than one.
  3. Write each result as a short course pitch, with a call to action to the course page, the schedule, or a trial-lesson booking.
  4. Ask for the email before the result so the school can follow up with the recommended course.
