Placement test

Last updated Nov 3, 2026

Quick answer

A placement test is a short assessment that estimates a learner’s current level so they can be placed in the right class, course or cohort. Schools often offer it free online, where it doubles as a lead magnet: every completed test is an inquiry with the learner’s level attached.

RooQuiz is built for the first column. How to set one up, from levels to the trial-lesson booking, is in how to build a placement test that turns into enrollments.

How to build one in RooQuiz

  1. Start a knowledge quiz and write 10 to 20 questions that span your levels, from easy to hard.
  2. Give each question points and add a short explanation, so learners see why an answer was right.
  3. Set score ranges for your levels, such as A1 to C2 or Beginner to Advanced, and write a result for each.
  4. Give each level a call to action: book a trial lesson, see the matching class schedule, or talk to an advisor.

To keep repeat attempts fresh, draw the questions at random from a question bank instead of fixing them in the quiz.
